“Raya and the Lost Dragon” is an animated family movie by Disney Studios for all ages.
The setting is a fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons live together in harmony. Everything was wonderful until—the evil villain Druun (who looks like dark purple and black clouds), threatens the land. Amazingly the dragons sacrificed themselves to save the people. And that’s only the beginning!
Clip: Let’s catch you up; my name is Raya. Our world has been at war for as long as we can remember; people never see eye to eye.
The stellar Asian voice cast of Kelly Marie Tran, Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, and Daniel Dae Kim bring the characters to life.
Along Raya’s journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than dragon magic to save the world—it’s going to take trust and working together.
Clip: You can’t trust anyone. Maybe it’s broken because you don’t trust anyone. You just have to take the first step.
The Bottomline, I’m all in 4 stars out of 4 “Raya and the Last Dragon”
is a beautiful movie with engaging characters and a determined young warrior. I screened it with four girls, ages 9 and 5. They all cheered at the end and loved the comical characters.
My thanks to Disney for continuing to write strong female characters that are no longer waiting for a Prince to save them. Nope, they are the ones saving the world.
