Ryan Gosling stars as a Hollywood stuntman and Emily Blunt portrays a film director, in “The Fall Guy” the movie is playing now in theaters. Before the film started there is a short introduction by director David Leitch who was actually a stunt man for Matt Damon and Brad Pitt, he said the movie is a ‘love letter’ to the stunt community. Colt Seavers, Ryan Gosling is a stunt performer in Hollywood, when he’s hurt on the job, he abandons his career and girlfriend Jody, played by Emily Blunt. In a nutshell, the film is entertaining, and a love letter to the ‘Stunt Community,” Gosling carries the film from start to drawn-out finish.
The movie is loosely based on the 1980s TV series of the same name starring Lee Major as Colt Seavers, the same name as Gosling’s character which is an ode to the series. And yes, Lee Majors does appear in the film, wait for his cameo during the closing credits. I enjoyed the banter between the leads although the repetitive hand-to-hand combat scenes with the same villains stuffs the script and takes away for the central theme of the film.
