Wheaton, Illinois – The Downtown Wheaton Association has announced an exciting event for residents and visitors alike. From September 25 to October 8, 2023, the ‘Dinos Downtown Wheaton’ exhibit, presented by Innovator ETFs, will showcase ten life-sized animatronic dinosaurs in Downtown Wheaton. This outdoor exhibit will offer a captivating journey back to the prehistoric era, allowing attendees to witness these dinosaurs in action.
Allison Orr, the Executive Director of the Downtown Wheaton Association, described this unique opportunity as a way for the community to explore Downtown Wheaton. Local businesses are eagerly participating, offering dinosaur-themed products, activities, and special menu items at restaurants. The event is expected to bring a surge of visitors to Downtown Wheaton.
The exhibit, known as ‘Dinos Downtown Wheaton,’ features ten dinosaur species worldwide. These include the Herrerasaurus, Amargasaurus, Iguanodon, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Oviraptor, Neovenator, Protoceratops, Triceratops, Leallynasaura, and the Minmi. Admission is free, thanks to generous community sponsors, and educational groups can arrange field trips.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the downtown area while searching for these fascinating creatures, offering a unique twist to their shopping and dining experience. State-of-the-art animatronics technology brings these dinosaurs to life, mimicking their movements and roars as they would have appeared millions of years ago.
The exhibit also serves as an educational tool, aligning with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to teach various subjects like geology, evolution, and ecology. Educational materials and activities are available for students at all grade levels.
