Hi Carl and hello to all of our listeners out there. I’m Sarah Knight Adamson, your National film and TV critic for Hollywood 360 Radio Network. “Tony” is rated R and playing in theaters now. Director Matt Johnson is known for his critically acclaimed film BlackBerry in (2023). Here he gives us somewhat of a bio-pic of the world famous chef Anthony Bourdain.
The film stars as Tony, played by Dominic Sessa and focuses on the year 1970 in which Tony was 19 years of age, in Province-town, Massachusetts. We view his early experiences with a tough, perfectionist chef played by the fantastic Antonio Banderas. We also see the chaotic and rigorous reality of his early restaurant kitchen life.
Other cast members include, Emilia Jones who played his high school sweetheart and first wife. Leo Woodall plays a fellow is a kitchen worker who shows him the dark side of life using drugs and alcohol to fight the stress of the the job.

We spoke about the movie “The Holdovers,” Alexander Payne’s Christmas comedy drama film, for which he won the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer and earned a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
